Export a saved view

Export the transactions that match a saved view — the same filter rules you use on the Transactions register — as a single transactions.csv file.

CSV is not encrypted. Store the export securely. For an encrypted database copy, see Back up your data file.

Prerequisites​

  • Your data file is unlocked
  • At least one saved view exists (for example an account register view or a custom filter you saved)

Steps from Settings​

  1. Open Settings → Export.
  2. Under Saved view export, choose a saved view from the list.
  3. Click Choose destination and pick where to save transactions.csv (you can rename the file in the save dialog).
  4. Click Export.
  5. Wait for the success message showing how many transaction rows were written.
  6. (Optional) Click Open folder to locate the file.
  7. (Optional) Open Settings → Activity — the export appears with the saved view name and row count.

Steps from Transactions (optional)​

  1. Open Transactions and apply or open the saved view you want.
  2. Open Settings → Export — the same saved view can be selected there for export.

Expected result​

  • A transactions.csv file exists at the path you chose
  • The number of data rows matches the transaction count for that saved view in the register
  • Columns match the view’s on-screen columns — the same fields, order, and sort you set with Choose columns, including any Advanced import fields you enabled (plus a trailing id column). A view you never customized exports the default register layout — see Export CSV format
  • Your live data in Big Picture Money is unchanged
  • Settings → Activity shows an export event with the saved view name and row count
