Manage telemetry and privacy
Control whether Big Picture Money may send anonymous usage information. Sharing is off until you turn it on. Categorization contribution is a separate switch on the same screen — see Improve categorization accuracy.
Prerequisites
- Your data file is unlocked (see Unlock the app).
Steps
- Open Settings from the left navigation (or Account → Settings in the title bar).
- Under General, find Anonymous usage sharing (or similar wording next to Help improve categorization).
- Turn the switch on to allow anonymous usage sharing, or off to stop it.
- Optional: under the same section, use Ask me to report app errors to show or hide Home Action required → Report errors prompts (this is separate from usage sharing).
- Optional: during first-run setup, use the Help improve Big Picture Money? prompt to enable usage sharing and categorization contribution before you open Settings.
Expected result
- With usage sharing off, Big Picture Money does not send anonymous usage data.
- With usage sharing on, allowlisted usage signals may be sent in the background while the data file is unlocked (see Telemetry privacy).
- After you quit and reopen the app, your choice is remembered.
- Nothing is sent while the database is locked.
- Turning Ask me to report app errors off hides the Home prompt; turning it back on restores prompts when unreported errors exist.
