View balance over time
Prerequisites
- At least one active account with a balance
- The app has captured at least one daily snapshot (unlock the app on a day when accounts have balances)
Steps
- Open Reports in the left navigation.
- Select Balance over time from the report type list.
- Confirm the date range — by default it shows Last 3 months. Choose another preset or Custom range if you want a different window. See Choose a report date range.
- Optionally narrow Accounts to show only selected accounts. Clear the selection to include all active accounts again.
- Read the line chart:
- Checking, savings, investment, cash, and other accounts appear above the zero line when their balance is positive
- Credit cards and loans appear below the zero line when you owe money
- To keep these filters, choose Save report, enter a name, and confirm.
Snapshots are captured once per calendar day while the app runs or when you unlock. Balances you change today update live account totals immediately; the history chart gains a new point after the next daily snapshot.
Expected result
- Each visible account has its own line on the chart
- Liability balances (credit cards and loans) plot as negative values below zero
- Asset balances plot as positive values above zero
- Changing the date range or account filter updates the chart without leaving Reports
- A range with no snapshots shows a helpful empty state
- Saving and reopening a report restores the same date range preset and account selection
