Open documentation

Big Picture Money ships with the full user guide built in. You can read it in a dedicated Help window without leaving the app or going online.

Use this path when you want to browse the guide from the home page. To open help for the screen or dialog you are already on, see Open help for this page.

Prerequisites​

  • Big Picture Money is installed and open.
  • No internet connection is required — documentation is bundled with the app.

Open the Help window at the home page​

  1. In the title bar, click the Help icon (the question mark).
  2. Choose Documentation.
  3. A separate Help window opens showing the documentation home page.

Documentation always opens the home page for browsing. It does not jump to the article for your current screen — use Documentation for this page or F1 for that.

Browse and read an article​

  1. In the Help window, use the sidebar on the left to find a section, such as Getting started or a How-to category that matches the app (for example How-to · Transactions).
  2. Optionally type in the search field to filter articles by words in the title or body.
  3. Click an article title to open it.
  4. Read the article in the main pane. Internal links open the linked article inside the Help window.
  5. Links to external websites open in your default web browser.

Close the Help window​

  1. Close the Help window using its own window close control.
  2. The main Big Picture Money window is unchanged — your registers, budgets, and chat stay exactly where you left them.

If you choose Documentation again while the Help window is already open, the existing window is brought to the front on the documentation home page instead of opening a second window.

Expected result​

  • Choosing Help → Documentation opens a separate Help window on the documentation home page, not a full-page overlay in the main window.
  • The Help window shows a sidebar table of contents and a readable article pane.
  • Searching finds articles by title or body text.
  • A getting-started article is readable offline.
  • Choosing Documentation a second time focuses the existing Help window rather than opening another.
  • Closing the Help window returns you to the main window unchanged.
