Issue reporting
Big Picture Money lets you report problems and suggest improvements from inside the app. You do not need a separate account on an external site just to send feedback.
What you can report
| Choice | Typical use |
|---|---|
| Report a problem | Something broke, looks wrong, or does not match what you expected |
| Suggest a feature | A workflow improvement or new capability |
| Report a documentation problem | A help article is wrong, unclear, or out of date |
| Security or privacy concern | A vulnerability or privacy issue |
Before you submit
Review:
- The title and description you wrote
- Optional screenshots or app logs you chose to attach
- Non-sensitive diagnostics the app includes (version, operating system, build channel, and the page you were on)
- Your contact email (required for follow-up)
Reports are sent only to Big Picture maintainers — they are not posted publicly. Do not include account numbers, passphrases, API keys, or full transaction exports unless you intend maintainers to see them in your description or attachments.
Attachments
| Screenshots (optional) | PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF, up to 1 MB each. Screenshots may show balances or account names — review them before you attach. | | Include app logs (optional) | Off by default. Attaches a scrubbed tail of the app log file (no balances or transactions; file paths and similar details may remain). |
Your email
You must provide a contact email. Big Picture Money stores it so maintainers can follow up with you.
After you submit
You receive a reference id such as BPM-ISSUE-123. Save it when you email support or follow up on the report.
What the app never sends automatically
- Your database file
- Passphrases or bank credentials
- Account balances, transaction lists, or full financial exports
See What we collect when you report.
Prompted error reports
When the app logs structured errors that have not been sent yet, Home → Action required may show Report errors. That path is another entry point into this same feedback flow: you still review and consent before anything is submitted. It is not anonymous usage sharing — see Manage telemetry and privacy.
When a screen fails to load
If a page crashes while you are using the app, the sidebar and title bar stay available so you can open another section. The main area shows a short message that something went wrong — not a raw technical dump. Use Back to return to the previous page, or open another section from the sidebar or title bar. A link to report this issue opens the same feedback flow as Help → Report an issue, with a starting title and description filled in from the error (including technical detail for you to review or edit before you send). The failure is also logged on this device; if you do not send a report right away, Home → Action required may still offer Report errors later.
