Release 2026.1

If you are in the private beta, here are the latest features and fixes that have landed in the latest auto-update.

Features

  • Smarter AI Chat — Ask the assistant to edit transactions, fix a balance-adjustment amount, manage tags, propose saved views, work goals and budgets, and more. Changes show up as preview cards; nothing writes until you click Apply (or batch-apply several at once).
  • Clearer AI progress — While Chat works, you see readable step names. After the reply, expand Worked for … for a short work log, and Copy grabs the answer as markdown.
  • Help-grounded answers — Chat can search the same in-app documentation you read in Help, so product rules come from the docs instead of guesswork.
  • Simpler AI setup — Settings → AI is mostly Enable, provider, suggested model, and API key. Refresh the model list from the cloud catalog; Advanced stays folded until you need it (including Ollama).

Other Features

  • Budget expected income — Setup has an Income row and a Plan balance (expected income minus category targets). Tracking shows over-assigned callouts, received-vs-expected, and per-category Edit / Stop budgeting without opening full setup.
  • Context-sensitive Help — Press F1 (⇧⌘? on Mac) or use Help → Documentation for this page to open the article for the screen or dialog you are looking at.
  • In-app updates — Check for updates from Help, with a quiet background check so you hear about new builds without hunting them down.
  • Optional telemetry — Users can opt into anonymous usage and error signals from Settings; privacy docs spell out what never leaves the device.
  • Issue reporting — Report a problem or suggest a feature from the app when something goes sideways.
  • Merchant matching upgrades — Better offline recognition from messy bank payees (spine + token matching), clearer match explanations and confidence in the inspector, and notes you can read without opening the editor.
  • Bank balance alignment — Sync can store the institution balance, show drift, auto-align once, and later ask before Align to bank. Track balance controls whether an account counts on Home and net worth.
  • Transfer review polish — Fix a wrong transfer category from the review flow, with the same similar-payee prompt you get in the register.
  • Transaction filters — Common vs Advanced fields, clearer condition summaries, and bank-sync-scoped filters when you open an import from history.
  • Report date presets — Reports share Spending-style ranges (this month, last 30 days, YTD, custom, and friends); saved reports remember the preset so “Last 30 days” stays rolling.

Bug fixes

  • Spending pie chart — Category breakdown colors and slices render correctly again on Spending and related charts.
  • Paper-check “similar” recategorize — When you categorize a check, the similar-transactions prompt only offers other checks with the same amount, so unrelated check payments stay out of the batch.
  • Transfer review detail — Suggestion detail and the inspector stay in sync when you inspect and correct a proposed transfer.
  • Income vs expense exclusions — Balance-adjustment rows are excluded from Income vs expense the same way Spending already treated them (alongside transfers and credit-card payments).
  • Welcome / first-run privacy step — Errors from the contribution preferences step show on that prompt instead of getting stuck on the create-file form.
  • Startup reliability — Welcome and first-run category plumbing no longer trip over a cold start after recent onboarding changes.
  • Canonical website URLs — Small fix so public pages resolve to the right canonical address.
